"Soon to be" because Charlie and Olivia are newly engaged!!! Below is Charlotte's excited face. We are all so happy for the two of you and can't wait to see you again in September!
Charlotte learned how to smile, but is not good at smiling for the camera.
This is our best attempt at catching a smile on camera.
First bath in a tub! Up until now she has only had sponge baths with a washcloth. She did really well and even seemed to like it.
Lottie's tiny foot was the only thing sticking out of her blanket during her nap today.
Our friend Josh playing Charlotte a song. He has been working on writing a song for her.
When we announced that we were pregnant to our friends Wade and Lauri, they gave us a diaper with a congratulatory message written on it. Charlotte finally fit into it last week!
Charlotte and her first bottle.
Her Winnie-the-Pooh gown with attached mittens sort of slid up around her belly while she slept in Grandpa Mark's arms. Thanks Heather and Chris for the outfit!
Charlotte holding Dad's hand while she has a bottle--good bonding time for them.
Today Charlotte is 7 weeks old. We can't believe how big she is getting already! Each day we are surprised by how much she is growing up. This week she learned how to smile. Before now she would accidentally smile, but never really meant it. But now she will smile if she is in a good mood and you play with her. She especially likes to be kissed on the nose/mouth/cheek or given zerberts/raspberries. High pitched voices also help to elicit smiles. Matt has a good trick where he puts his face close to hers and opens his mouth really wide. She then responds by opening her mouth really wide. It's pretty adorable. Unfortunately, Charlotte does not like to smile for the camera, so we will keep pursuing a good picture of her for you all to see her smiling.
Our favorite time with Lottie is in the morning after she eats at 6 or 7am. We bring her into bed with us and she is all smiles. She has also discovered how to use her voice for something other than crying, so she likes to coo and gurgle at us. It is such fun to talk to her and have her interact with us--it makes early morning a happy time for everyone. We see a little bit of personality coming out of our little girl!

Charlotte,
I am glad that you are interacting with your mom and dad more and more. They have paid quite a bit of attention to you, and it's nice that you are trying to thank them with your coos and gurgles. I'm looking forward to hearing you 'voice' in September!
Matt and Kristi,
This must be where raising Charlotte becomes more fun... where you can interact with her more than through diaper changings. I'm excited for you! See you soon,
Charlie
She's getting soooo big!!! If you wanted to plan a roadtrip to Missouri I wouldn't object :)
Thanks for the shout-out, Charlotte! Can't wait to see you and your mommy and daddy in two weeks.
