Being a baby is hard work!

The final belly picture, taken while in labor on Thursday July 5 in between contractions. 
About a week later, here is Mommy without the belly, with Baby on the outside!
Here we are, 2 weeks old! Already she is growing up; just in the last couple of days she has been waking up more and staying awake for longer periods of time. Grandmas and Grandpas you will be glad to see her with her eyes open when we visit next week! She is lots of fun, though being more awake has added some confusion and crabbiness to her days. We think she sometimes doesn't know what to do with herself when she is not sleeping. So her new pasttime is fussing. Hopefully she mostly remains the same content baby she has been until now. We have lots of fun looking at her, holding her, kissing her, and playing with her (as much as you can play with a newborn). We like her!
The story to go along with the poop picture above: Two nights ago Matt was changing Charlotte's diaper while Kristi was in the living room reading (i.e. slacking off). Suddenly a loud gasp and an "EWW GROSS!!!" was heard from the bedroom. Kristi ran in to see that Charlotte had sprayed poop across the room from her changing table onto the floor and bed. While Matt was changing her, he had held her legs up to wipe her butt, as in the custom in diaper changing. However, this increased the pressure in Charlotte's belly, which caused the explosion. Kristi quick grabbed the camera to catch this memorable moment, but was a little bit sad to have missed the action. Charlotte, ever obliging, helped her mom out by letting out a fountain of pee into the air and a small squirt of poop into the diaper, which was promptly caught on camera. Please look at the picture again, as you can see both of these things happening quite clearly. Charlotte will never forgive her parents for capturing this hilarious and humiliating moment on camera. We promise not to show future boyfriends...
Charlotte will be attending her first wedding next weekend. We are going on our first family roadtrip to Vermillion, South Dakota for our friends' Katy and Nick's wedding. She will definitely be out on the dance floor. Look for pictures in the next couple weeks.
