Who needs a spoon?

Fussy baby + parents who need a moment of peace + bowl of oatmeal = messy, but happy, baby!

Crawling!

Mercy has recently figured out how to MOVE!!!  A month or so ago she was up on all fours.  Then she started rocking back and forth, and now she is officially CRAWLING!  Every day she gets better at it, faster and more graceful.  She is all over the house, crawling from the bedroom to the living room to the kitchen and everywhere in between.  If she knows I'm in a different room, she'll follow my voice and come find me!  She doesn't like to be left out!

Here are a few videos of her crawling.  The first one is from March 17th and the second two are from the 25th, so you can see how much better she is in just one week!  And now she is even faster and hardly ever falls.  Watch out world, here comes Mercy!

Happy Birthday Grandpa Randy!

This weekend we celebrated Grandpa Randy's birthday by taking a trip up to see him!  We had a fun weekend playing together and visiting and cooking and eating!  We love being with Grandpa!

Here are a couple of pictures of Mercy's first graham cracker.  She LOVED it and devoured 3/4 of the whole cracker in no time!

On our way to Grandpa Randy's we stopped to visit Great-Grandma Eleanor!  She was thrilled to have visitors and we made an impromptu decision to bring her with us to Grandpa Randy's for the day.  We also stopped at Uncle Paul and Aunt Jean's house on the way, but didn't get any pictures of that visit.  Charlotte had a great time playing with their standard poodle!

Here is the birthday boy with his delicious chocolate cake, made by Margaret.  Yum!

We hope you had a great birthday Grandpa Randy!  We loved celebrating with you!

Our big helper!

Charlotte is such a good helper.  Mercy has gotten a bit impatient at mealtimes, so Charlotte helps by feeding her a few spoonfuls while I get Charlotte's lunch ready.  I'm so thankful for her!

On your mark, get set, GO!!!

Somebody is getting closer to crawling!  She's done a few face-plants in the process, but she's not deterred!  Today she was practicing her sitting and she did a great job, sitting for about a minute without support.  So far sitting has not been her strongest sport...she's ready for crawling or sprinting.
Also, she's jumped into the world of eating solid food!  She started with injera (Ethiopian bread), but now eats (and loves) oatmeal, banana, applesauce, rice, curry, and cheerios.  Next we need to work on vegetables so she doesn't get too used to sweet foods.  Maybe tomorrow we'll do some green beans or peas!

Mercy's great-grandma Rose Ann knitted her a beautiful sweater that arrived in the mail yesterday!  We love the colors and the soft yarn!  Mama Kristi and her sisters all had sweaters from Grandma Rose Ann when we were little girls, and Charlotte had a couple when she was younger also.  I can't believe how little she was in these pictures!  That little baby face is all grown up now!
