On your mark, get set, GO!!!

Somebody is getting closer to crawling!  She's done a few face-plants in the process, but she's not deterred!  Today she was practicing her sitting and she did a great job, sitting for about a minute without support.  So far sitting has not been her strongest sport...she's ready for crawling or sprinting.
Also, she's jumped into the world of eating solid food!  She started with injera (Ethiopian bread), but now eats (and loves) oatmeal, banana, applesauce, rice, curry, and cheerios.  Next we need to work on vegetables so she doesn't get too used to sweet foods.  Maybe tomorrow we'll do some green beans or peas!

Mercy's great-grandma Rose Ann knitted her a beautiful sweater that arrived in the mail yesterday!  We love the colors and the soft yarn!  Mama Kristi and her sisters all had sweaters from Grandma Rose Ann when we were little girls, and Charlotte had a couple when she was younger also.  I can't believe how little she was in these pictures!  That little baby face is all grown up now!

The cutest baby on the block

Mercy's new-to-her swimsuit.  It fits better than the other one.  :)

Trying to make spring come a bit faster

Mercy's swimsuit is a bit too big on top.  Not terribly modest.  :)

Mercy is figuring out how to get up on all fours.  We are in trouble!!!  I am NOT ready for this!

Mercy and her friend Marit

Mercy really likes other babies.  She can't seem to leave them alone when they come to visit, as you can see in these videos!  Also, you can see her rolling skills are pretty well refined.  :)

Baby's first injera!

Most babies eat rice cereal as their first solid food.  But if you know us, you've probably realized we're not very mainstream.  Since kids learn from their parents, Mercy is also learning to do things a little differently.  Today she tried her first solid food--injera!  She loved it!  But don't take it from me, watch for yourself!

January

Mercy has decided she's had enough January weather and is moving south for the rest of the winter.

What do you mean there's at least two and a half months left of winter?!

A visit from Grandpa Randy helps the winter go by faster!  Charlotte and Grandpa spent hours playing with daddy's old legos!

Mama and the girls have been hanging out with good friends who have babies, too.  It helps the winter seem less long and helps us get out of our house.

Future babysitter.  :)
